With Special Thanks

My mother Rev. Lillian Frier Webb sends all of her thanks and good wishes to all of those who prayed, called or sent get well greetings and flowers. She joked that some of you forgot the checks in the mail.  Mom made it through 2005, 2006, her birthday Friday, July 13, 2007, and as we looked forward to Easter 2008, we gave thanks for the blessings our family has received through your continued prayers and financial support.

Lillian's recovery from lung surgery February 10, 2005 had been a success, but it took its toll on our family physically, materially, and spiritually after additional brain surgery August 2007.  When it rains it pours and on Election night November 8, 2005, Lillian had to get her pace maker replaced after feeling faint.  All went well after a very scary moment in the ER and she recovered to have a great Thanksgiving that year.  As we moved toward Christmas 2005, Lillian  recouping from eye surgery, suffered a small seizure just before my birthday. My wish came true when Lillian came home from the hospital Christmas Day and spent Christmas dinner with her family.  Together we brought in the New Year 2006, celebrated the principles of Kwanzaa, and personified  Valentine's Day with lots of love and danced together with a big band  and attended Easter Sunday Service 2006.  Driving, seeing patients in her psychotherapy practice and of course preaching were just some of the resumed activities Rev. Webb was doing. We spent a glorious Mother's Day 2006 which also combined the celebration of my sister, Rev. Jo-an Owings being installed as the new pastor of Harlem's Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, which was founded by our maternal grandfather, the late Rev. Richard Frier, Sr., which just celebrated its 85th anniversary fall 2006. Our matriarch's resilience is due to her strong faith and we are truly blessed to have her again celebrating a milestone 85th birthday with her family in 2007.

After 25 years as a chaplain at the Nassau County Jail, Lillian retired December 2007 with a wonderful luncheon given by the Long Island Council of Churches.  Look on our events page for some exciting activities and events in which Rev. Webb will be speaking in 2008. Read the new article  published January 2007 in the New York Daily News by columnist Clem Richardson, and we will post video of the interview after publication on this site. Newsday also completed an interview by editor Jim Smith that has just been published. We are still finalizing the lecture series "Lunch With Lil"™ .  Join us for our first date coming soon to hear her special thoughts on living and loving.
